Gerald Cohen – Generations

GeraldCohenCD

Gerald Cohen – Generations is a musical exploration of the passing on of traditions in the Jewish faith. Generations features the Syracuse Children’s Chorus, directed by Dr. Barbara M. Tagg, in the six-movement work V’higad’ta L’vincha (And You Shall Tell Your Child), which was commissioned by the Syracuse Children’s Chorus. The work is based on the Passover Haggadah, a joyous celebration of freedom, and features Kathryn Palange, soprano; David Abrams, clarinet; Greg Wood, cello; and Alice Lee, piano. Reviewer Michael Kannen states “Cohen’s music succeeds because it lives and breathes with vitality, energy, tenderness and sincerity.” Released in 2001 by CRI, this CD also includes Cohen’s Trio for viola, cello and piano; Four Songs on Hebrew Texts for voice and piano, and String Quartet No. 2.
