The Syracuse Children’s Chorus creates collaborative experiences in which young people share their joy of singing, develop their sense of beauty and deepen their commitment to excellence through choral music education and performance.


2009 Chorus America Chorus Impact Study

The 2009 Chorus America Chorus Impact Study reported the following:

  • 42.6 million Americans sing in choirs
  • singing is the most popular form of participation in the performing arts for adults and children in the United States
  • there are 270,000 choruses in the United States
  • 42.6 million Americans sing in choirs
  • 10.1 million children sing in choirs

Educators say children who sing in choirs:

  • have enhanced social skills as adults
  • have greater academic success
  • are more self-confident
  • are more self-disciplined
  • have improved memory skills
  • participate better in group activities
  • have better emotional expression
  • exhibit better emotional management

Singing in a choir is strongly associated with the qualities associated with success in life:
