The Syracuse Children’s Chorus, under the direction of Associate Director, Deborah A. Cunningham, Assistant Director, Marcia DeMartini, and Interim Conductor of Chorale, Carolyn Weber, is pleased to announce its 30th Anniversary concert season! Season highlights are set to include the sixteenth presentation of the holiday favorite The Nine Lessons and Carols, a community singing event with renowned song-leader, Nick Page, and a celebration of the Chorus’ long-standing tradition of premiering new works with compositions by local composers Joseph Downing and Crystal LaPoint. Performances this season will be accompanied by Michael Copps, Nathan Sumrall, and Glenn Kime.
A Fall Festival of Choirs

The Syracuse Children’s Chorus is pleased to host our second annual A Fall Festival of Choirs, benefitting breast cancer research and education in Central New York on Saturday, October 23, 2010 at 2:00 pm at Most Holy Rosary Church in Syracuse. Schola Cantorum of Syracuse, Syracuse Chorale, St. David’s Episcopal Church Choir, and the Westhill High School Concert Choir will share the stage with the Syracuse Children’s Chorus for an uplifting afternoon of song. Audience members will experience musical selections from a variety of cultures and marvel at the sound of over 400 voices singing Gregg Smith’s moving selection, Now I Walk in Beauty. Join us as we present a concert for a cause and celebrate the talent and diversity of the fine choirs in our community! Each choir will perform selections from Page’s repertoire that exemplify the concert’s theme, The World Begins at Home. 30 Years of Premieres

Commemorate the rich history of the Syracuse Children’s Chorus as we conclude our 30th anniversary season with an afternoon of joyful singing! Choristers will perform selections from over 85 works commissioned and premiered by the Chorus throughout its history on Sunday, May 1, 2011 at 4:00 pm at Hendricks Chapel on the Syracuse University campus. Works by renowned composers Joseph Downing, Vijay Singh, Ernst Bacon, and Crystal LaPoint will be featured alongside world premieres by Diego Davidenko and Deborah Cunningham. Join us for the finale of our May concert as we bring together choristers, alumni, composers, family and friends in the singing of the SCC favorite, My Own Song.

Syracuse Symphony Orchestra Post-Standard Classics Series

The Syracuse Children’s Chorus will join the Syracuse Symphony Orchestra on Friday and Saturday, November 5-6, 2010 at 8:00 pm at the Mulroy Civic Center at Oncenter to perform selections from Aaron Copland’s Old American Songs as part of the SSO’s Post-Standard Classics Series concert Brahm’s Choral Masterpiece.
